This opportunity provides direct support for PhD research that tackles critical themes such as data and measurement, firms and industrial policy, households and labour, agricultural productivity, trade frictions, and public sector dynamics. Proposals are especially encouraged that involve new data collection, harmonisation, or analysis of how emerging technologies like AI and automation impact growth and jobs. Gender, informality, and domestic revenue mobilisation are also key priorities.
Funding can cover research assistance, data collection, stipends, and travel to field sites, with special consideration for researchers from or based in low-income countries.
