This program supports projects that record and safeguard knowledge systems related to material culture, spaces, performances, and environments, ensuring they remain accessible for both communities and scholars. By creating open digital archives, the initiative helps preserve practices of making, repairing, and re‑purposing that are at risk of being lost.
Applications are encouraged to involve local community members and knowledge holders as part of the project team, with priority given to proposals outside Western Europe, North America (excluding Mexico), Japan, or Australia. Training in digital documentation methods is provided, and all outputs must be deposited both in the EMKP repository and locally, under a Creative Commons license.
