Across food systems, millions remain vulnerable to climate shocks, malnutrition, and limited crop diversity. Yet many nutritious, climate‑resilient crops remain underutilized, despite their adaptability to challenging environments and potential to strengthen farmer livelihoods.
This initiative supports high‑impact projects that boost productivity through seed systems and good agricultural practices, strengthen post‑harvest and processing capacities, improve market access, and raise consumer awareness of opportunity crops. It also promotes conservation and use of crop diversity, engaging national genebanks and encouraging sustainable value chain development.
Eligible organizations with proven in‑country experience can submit proposals covering one or multiple crops across different regions. Projects must demonstrate strong technical expertise, clear pathways to scale, and sustainable linkages with existing initiatives.
💡 Grants available — typically ranging from USD 100,000 to 200,000 per project, depending on scope and intervention.
