Conservation is never just about ecosystems — it is about people, their rights, livelihoods, governance, and choices. This opportunity supports experienced storytellers who can capture conservation through a human-centred lens, showing how lived realities such as land use, economies, health, and coexistence with wildlife shape outcomes.
Funding is available for strong, original stories that highlight both successes and challenges, exploring tensions, trade-offs, and innovations. Projects may be written, audio, visual, or film-based, with grants ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 12,000 depending on format and complexity. Proposals must demonstrate editorial readiness, a clear publication or broadcast pathway, and a strong African focus grounded in local contexts and communities.
Eligible applicants include professional journalists, writers, filmmakers, photographers, audio producers, and multimedia storytellers worldwide, provided they can show prior publication or broadcast work and submit at least three examples of past projects.
💡 Grants available up to USD 12,000 to support publishable, human-centred conservation stories with African focus.
