At the intersection of creativity and scholarship, this fellowship offers a rare chance to pursue ambitious projects with full access to one of the world’s greatest libraries. It supports literary innovation, public engagement, and scholarly excellence, encouraging fellows to produce significant published work while contributing to vibrant intellectual dialogue.
Each year, fifteen fellows are selected to work at the Cullman Center in New York’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. They receive a stipend, office space, and access to extensive physical and electronic resources. The fellowship term runs from September through May, with fellows expected to be in residence five days a week.
Eligibility spans academics, independent scholars, journalists, novelists, playwrights, poets, translators, and visual artists. Foreign nationals fluent in English are welcome, though projects leading directly to a degree are not eligible.
💡 Support available — USD 90,000 stipend, office space, and full library access for each fellow.
