Environmental DNA is transforming how we discover and monitor life on Earth — but without strong reference libraries, much of this potential remains untapped. This call supports projects that prepare and integrate DNA reference libraries into global systems, enabling metabarcoding data to drive new insights into species diversity and ecosystem health.
Selected initiatives will standardize molecular data, strengthen interoperability, and align with FAIR data practices to ensure long‑term usability. Projects must demonstrate capacity to prepare, format, and publish sequence datasets under open licenses, with clear pathways for integration into international biodiversity infrastructures.
Eligible applicants include universities, museums, NGOs, government agencies, and research institutions managing DNA libraries for taxonomic identification.
💡 Support available — seed grants up to €10,000 for preparing DNA reference libraries for global biodiversity integration.
