Uganda’s rapidly growing youth population presents both a challenge and a powerful opportunity. With high unemployment and a persistent skills mismatch, many adolescents risk being left behind without the tools needed for learning, work, and active participation in society. This initiative responds by embedding transferable skills — life skills, digital skills, and social innovation — directly into formal education and TVET systems.
Through collaboration with national education bodies, the programme integrates competency-based learning, strengthens teacher and instructor capacity, and promotes learner‑centered pedagogies. Structured delivery includes life skills sessions in primary schools, project‑based learning in secondary schools, and transferable skills training in TVET institutions.
A key component is system strengthening — improving governance, assessment, certification, and supervision mechanisms to sustain programming at scale. Engagement with communities and the private sector ensures employability pathways and practical learning opportunities.
💡 Indicative support available — approximately USD 900,000 over two years, enabling interventions that reach vulnerable groups including girls, refugees, and persons with disabilities.
